Super exciting to be back in the school!!
Hopefully our parking shift works, maybe we'll have Blake Roy or Todd Espinoza out in the parking lot with a couple of signs as they dance you in the right direction! Remember, we'll be parking in the back parking area from now on.
We are also excited to have some good soul food there after service, just to kick off the new season with some memorable style!

Looking forward to the next 4 week series we are starting at Newlife, called My Story.
We all have a story we will someday tell and all of us have decisions we will make today that will define our tomorrow. So, we will start this week with Deciding to Start! Invite some friends and family as we learn at how our Story is something that God wants to use to bless others!
I am rarely surprised or shocked at what happens in our world. But almost always I find myself getting really angry. When you read and see pictures of people including children getting blown up into pieces, one tends to become angry.
As anger subsides and there are moments of clarity, I see that my real anger isn't in the philosophy in which people like this stand, my anger isn't directed toward the person's origin or nationality and my anger isn't even in the person that ultimately decided to harm all these people. My anger is directed at what's beneath all that. The twenty year old responsible for the blasts in Boston is a mere pawn, a puppet, with strings being pulled by evil itself. That's what ticks me off.
Evil exists! And it makes me angry, we exist in a place where evil can and will maim us, both spiritually and physically. In the form of a bomb or the form of cancer, evil exists. Evil exists in the form of lies we accept about ourselves and about God and in the form of war that plagues the globe. Evil exists and it ticks me off.
What do we do? Do we pretend its not there? Most do. They think, 'I'll put my head down and keep doing as I was, maybe it wont get me.'
Do we fight back? Do we blast everything that looks 'evil'? What does evil look like? I have to say, look in the mirror, evil looks a little like all of us. It's infected us all.
Do we create all kinds of rules and regulations to control evil? Let's see how we all enjoy tyranny!
What we do is look to the One that expels evil. The One that evil cannot stand or withstand. Jesus is the only one that can and has beat death pain and suffering. He will bring judgment and correction. The only thing that we can do that makes any sense in a world like this is to choose Him. If the claims He made about Himself are true (that He is King of the universe, Son of God, Creator of ALL), then the only possible way to win in this life and beyond is to begin a journey with Jesus.
I hate it when people mess things up! It's painful and ugly, Jesus has the ability to make those things untrue and heal the pain caused by them. Sometimes Christians are at the very center of the pain caused in this world, but Jesus He came to bring life and joy. As a pastor, I am sorry for that. It shouldn't be that way.
He wants the best for people, but we need to choose His best for us, we have a choice, to choose Him or not. When we choose Him we accept His grace AND truth everything He offers even some ideas we are not use to --- but He came that we could live out our greatest possible purpose in life. Let's choose Jesus, that's the only response that we can have against the evil that exists.
